Esen Özdemir, Project Manager, Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum
Esen Özdemir is the Project Manager of the Business Against Domestic Violence (BADV) Project conducted by Sabanci University Corporate Governance Forum (SU CGF). In addition, Esen Özdemir coordinates the Business Against Domestic Violence Network, which is an important output of the BADV project. As part of the BADV project, aimed at raising awareness of domestic violence in the business world and empowering private sector employees affected by it to actively engage in professional life, Esen collaborates closely with companies to develop corporate policies addressing domestic violence and establish supportive workplace mechanisms for affected employees.
Esen holds a master’s degree from Yıldız Technical University in Political Science, with her thesis titled 'A Comparative Perspective on Organizational Debates in the 1980s Turkish Feminist Movement: Examples from Feminist and Kaktüs Magazines'. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Uludağ University.
She worked professionally and voluntarily for fifteen years in various positions within feminist organizations, as a consultant, trainer, and editor on issues related to combating violence against women and promoting gender equality in national and international projects. Between 2017 and 2023, she taught the course "Gender Equality in Everyday Life" at Bilgi University.
Her areas of work and interest include recent feminist movement history, feminist organising, horizontal organizing, gender equality, gender-based violence, institutionalization of efforts against violence against women, and gender-sensitive rights-based monitoring.
